appears to be building travel portal- maybe with Orbitz?

Google is building a travel portal that will feature online booking,
searchable travel information, full AdWords and AdSense integration,
as well as high-bandwidth, streaming video of selected destinations
and properties.

Talks to Microsoft, Yahoo on Alliance Against Google

EBay Inc. is talking to both Yahoo Inc. and Microsoft Corp. to determine
whether one of them might be a worthy ally against a common threat:
Google Inc., The Wall Street Journal reported. eBay became alarmed
last year when Google launched its classified-advertising service
--Google Base-- that competes directly with eBay's online auctions
and other listings. The alliance would increase EBay's ad spending
with its chosen partner and provide access to the wealth of data
it has collected about its consumers. The two sides could also more
tightly integrate technical aspects of their systems to better cross-promote
their businesses.
